We made acquaintance with Jíří Doležal owing to Czech newspaper 43 years ago. I use to live in Ufa, he was in Brno. We mutually exchanged vinyl records. He mailed me rock and jazz from Czechoslovakia, and I sent him from the Soviet Union classical music, which he adored. Our friendship survived Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia of 1968 while other Czechs stopped writing me. Jíří spoke Russian. Thanks to him I know Czech language and I love his country. He was my guest in Ufa, Moscow, and New York City. I have been in his Brno three times. The advent of the Internet did not discourage him from handwritten letters in Russian. They cannot be counted.

I did not predict that this web page devoted to my friend Jíří will never seen by him. He passed away in August of 2009. Since I have lost him, I am unsuccessfully trying to find exact words describing Who IS He for me. He IS MY friend.
